Early care in the Ústí region

Aim: to expand early care social services for the families of children with mental, motor and combined disabilities to the Ústí region
Innovative elements: expansion of a service to a region where up until now the service has been lacking, maps of connected services
Results: Methodology for the expansion of an early care social service to regions where up until now they have been lacking; special methodology for supporting the development of young disabled children (orofacial stimulation, stimulation of motor development); drawing up maps of connected social services for families with children at a young and pre-school age in the regions and ordinary pre-school facilities that can take disabled children
Help for the project's target group: support for 35 families that take care of a child with a mental, motor or combined disability at an early age (0-7 years) living in the Ústí region

Launch of an early diagnosis system with directly connected subsequent care for children with hearing disabilities and their families

Aim: to create a comprehensive system eliminating bad or late diagnosis of a child with a hearing disability that enables children with hearing disabilities and their families to be provided early with the appropriate complex specialist care; to create a functioning network of specialists
Innovative elements: creating a functioning network of specialists, increasing the number of early diagnoses and subsequent care
Results: an early diagnosis system with directly connected care for children with hearing disabilities, applicable results of cooperation with other institutions, early care consultants, creating 10 early care service methods, a functioning network of specialists, including trained paediatricians
Help for the target group: support for 80-90 families of children with hearing, combined or serious speech development disorders aged 0-6, deaf parents with children aged 0-6; work with 200 paediatricians; training of 16 fully qualified works in preventive social services

Support for families with children suffering from spinal muscular atrophy

Aim: to support families with children suffering from spinal muscular atrophy by offering services and educational activities; to create a support model for families with physically disabled children
Innovative elements: psychological rehabilitation stays, educating family members who are carers
Results: A model for caring for families with children suffering from SMA which can also be transferred to children with another disability; Information materials about the issue of caring for children with SMA; sharing good practice (conferences, seminars)
Help for the target group: support for 70 families of children with diagnosed spinal muscular atrophy; reaching out to 500 specialists in caring professions, medical and social sectors with the aim of increasing awareness

Seeing through your eyes

Aim: the addition of assistance, advice and support services to the network of social services for children with sight disabilities and their families
Innovative elements: the service will act as a good continuation of early care (children aged 7-18), this type of service is still lacking;
Results: A training programme for personal assistants for children with sight disabilities, a method of cooperation between assistants and families, entire service verified in the project – registered with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs as a social service; a high-quality example of good practice, attempt to hand on know-how

"Spreading your wings...". Early care in Vysočina – development of a service for families with disabled children

Aim: to improve the quality of early care services for families looking after children at an early age whose development is at risk, to ensure accessibility of the services, to ensure that families are well-informed, to ensure collaboration with doctors, increasing public awareness
Innovative elements: the use of volunteers, psychological support for parents, stronger focus on collaborating with subjects that provide care for disabled children, residential stays and parents' club, availability of the service in Vysočina, professional growth
Results: Methodology of inter-institutional and interdisciplinary collaboration with subjects that provide care for disabled children, Methodology – structured project results – "example of good practice"
Help for the project's target group: support for 15 families of children with mental, physical or combined disabilities or children born prematurely, whose development is endangered by risk factors (0-7 years old); collaboration with 100 doctors and 10 volunteers

Together at home and in the community

Aim: to support families of young children with serious sight and combined disabilities who are caring for their children in the natural environment of the home, to prevent these children from being placed in institutional facilities and to prevent the social detachment of families from their communities;
Innovative elements: expansion of a specialist team, eye examinations for very small children or babies, prevention of the social consequences of a child's disability, new services added to current experience and expertise – for example, alternative communication, work with disabled children's siblings
Results: Early care methodology, work with the whole family, handbook with casuistry for the public, ensuring that doctors and the authorities are well-informed
Help for the target group: support for 90 families of young children with serious sight and combined disabilities
Area: the South Bohemia region and part of the Vysočina region (Pelhřimov and Havlíčkův Brod districts)
