The family life improvement project is a collaboration

Goal
: to reduce the number of children being removed from families, to reinforce multidisciplinary cooperation, and to influence systemically the concept and methodology formation concerning family life improvement in Prague. At least 70 specialists will be involved in the project, with these being social workers from the Departments of Social and Legal Protection of Children from individual parts of Prague, staff from institutional care centres, providers of social services for endangered families, judges and other specialists.
Outcome: 3 examples of the best practice of multidisciplinary cooperation and methodology which will help to influence the concept and methodology formation at ministry level and increase the quality of specialist care for endangered children.
Help for target group: 160 endangered children and their families.

The House of Three Wishes
Project for comprehensive support for and the improvement of endangered families

Goal: to provide comprehensive support for endangered families with children and, secondly, to intervene for legislative changes and consolidation of work methodologies in this particular area. As part of the project the first model workplace will be created adopting a comprehensive approach in the area of prevention and resolving problems faced by families with children (residential, ambulatory and field services) which will serve as a model for establishing similar centres.
Outcome: methodology for outpatient work with endangered families, new internal guidelines and internal methodology for providing comprehensive services to endangered families with children.
Help for target group: at least 190 families, approximately 35 of which long-term.

Prevention of institutional care through intervention in the legislative process and the more effective improvement of endangered families

Aim: Intervention in the legislative process and the coordination of work methods to make the improvement of endangered families more effective by systematically improving the cooperation between the team at the Přemysl Pittr Home for Children and the Outpatient and Field Centre in all forms of services provided (residential, outpatient and field) and thus processing the client’s order more quickly and more effectively, and offering the client a more suitable means of cooperation and optimum subsequent care.
Results:
a)  tools for mapping out and assessing the family situation common for both outpatient teams
b)  methodology for cooperation between workers from both teams during joint consultation with the family
c)  methodology for a community programme as a means of practical connection between the work of both institutions
Help for the target group: The anticipated number of families supported during the project is 35 families with children staying at the Přemysl Pittr Home for Children and 70 families who will be provided with services at the Outpatient and Field Centre.

Amalthea o.s.
Family life improvement project - systemisation of services in the Pardubice region

Goal: To create a system of services to support multi-problem families in the Pardubice region at risk of having their children removed, including the introduction of a family life improvement service in the north-east parts of the Pardubice region and to interlink this system with the concept materials of the region and community. Part of the plan is also to expand the capacity of the organisation, and to develop know-how and the ways it is distributed. It will collaborate with 6 institutions of social and legal protection of children, 3 institutional care centres, and 6 elementary schools in the region.                    
Outcome: the introduction of a family life improvement field service in the Pardubice region, increased awareness of the family life improvement service among institutions of social and legal protection of children, established methodology of family life improvement with specific characteristics for work at regional level, including a way of distributing the methodology, and the introduction of a stable volunteer programme.
Help for target group: 110 children and their families.

Project for a complex programme of care for children of mothers addicted to drugs

Goal: to ensure and support the adequate development of a child, whose parent (mother) has been using drugs, without removing the child from its family, through the complex improvement of family life and identification and saturation of the needs of each family member. The project is also a contribution in the area of preventing the development of risk factors of behavioural disorders in children, and in its long-term implications the project also helps children to not repeat the drug addiction of their parents.
Outcome: methodology of complex care for the children of mothers addicted to drugs which will also benefit the field of addictology and other related fields.
Help for target group: 140 children endangered by their parent’s (mother’s) drug addiction and their extended families.

Diakonie ČCE – centre in Plzeň

Centrum SOS Archa project – crisis centre for children, young people and adults

Goal: to complement the centre’s existing spectrum of services with child crime prevention activities and a system of timely detection of families, in which a child’s healthy development is at risk. Also the creation of a system of timely and efficient intervention to support families using cooperation with government and local-government bodies, schools, paediatricians and other institutions that has already been tested in practice. The most extensive preventive work will be done in schools where 1 500 pupils and students at elementary and secondary schools will be taught the practical procedure on how to cope with a life crisis situation and how to get specialist crisis help.
Outcome: the creation of a system of cooperation with social and legal child protection authorities in the Plzeň region and its verification in practice. This system of cooperation will be defined in a methodology document.
Help for target group: 80 families.

Host Home-Start Česká republika

Host – Rodič rodiči – pomoc ohroženým rodinám

Cíl: Podpora sociálně ohrožených rodin v jejich přirozeném prostředí – v jejich domovech – prostřednictvím vyškolených dobrovolníků tj. terénní práce s ohroženou rodinou s důrazem na preventivní a terapeutickou funkci.
Výstup: Metodika práce s ohroženou rodinou, která bude obsahovat: práce s ohroženou rodinou obecně, specifika dobrovolnické práce s rodinou, specifika terénní sociální práce a specifika diagnostiky ohrožených rodin v jejich přirozeném prostředí.
Pomoc cílové skupině: 80 rodin (cca 140 dětí a 150 příbuzenských osob).
