Objectives and constitution
The purpose of the Sirius Foundation is to broadly contribute to improving and developing the quality of children’s lives. Through its actions the Foundation strives to develop and apply basic human rights and humanitarian principles and declares its endeavour to contribute to improving the lives of children that were unlucky in life, which is encaptured by the Sirius Foundation’s motto:
We help children that have been unfortunate in life.
The Sirius Foundation aims at helping and supporting children in danger as defined in the UN
Convention on the Rights of the Child (112.42 Kb) approved in 1989 and accepted by the Czech Republic (CR) in 1991.
A child in danger is understood to be one whose natural development is at risk. This natural development can be threatened by two – often mutually overlapping - factors:
- The risk of organic (physical) damage,
- Risks stemming from the social environment.
