Grant call: Support of foster family care development in the Czech Republic

In the first grant proceedings the Sirius Foundation focused on supporting biological families by improving them. Unfortunately this process is not always successful and a child is consequently forced to grow up in a foster family or in institutional care. As scientific research shows, a child's life in institutional care is not an ideal environment for the healthy development of a child and therefore foster family care is usually the best alternative. Also the results of Monitoring of children's issues in the Czech Republic showed that foster care requires help and support.

On 5. 6. 2009 the second grant call was announced in the programme: Preventive programmes and systematic solutions with the goal: Support of foster family care development in the Czech Republic. By the closing date for the 1st round of the grant proceedings on 13. 7. 2009 sixteen applications had been delivered to the Sirius Foundation, 8 of which were selected by the grant committee for the second round.

On 9. 11. 2009 on the recommendations of the grant committee the Sirius Foundation's Board of Directors approved support for 4 projects worth a total of 15 140 003 CZK.
