Support of employees of children’s socio-legal protection authorities in care for endangered children

The company OPS Sirius, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and with a number of experts, prepared a project for the support of employees of children’s socio-legal protection authorities:

The project consists of two parts:

  1. An accredited two-day educational program - "Methods and skills in performance of the socio-legal protection of children"
  2. A series of supervisions (five hours of supervision per month for each center in a total length of one year)

The project is designed for:

  • employees of children’s socio-legal protection authorities in the Czech Republic - municipalities with extended powers (approx. 1800 employees)

 

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM – “METHODS AND SKILLS IN PERFORMANCE OF THE SOCIO-LEGAL PROTECTION OF CHILDREN"

General information:

  • a two day accredited educational program (in total, incl. accommodation, meals and transportation)
  • an educational program taking place in parallel in 6 locations in the CR (Olomouc, Brno, Tábor, Pilsen, Hradec Králové, Mělník) – own choice of location
  • start of the educational program: February 2012
  • frequency of the educational program: every week, always on Thursday – Friday
  • maximum capacity of 1 educational program in 1 location: 20 persons
  • teaching format: interactive, group work, individualized
  • a team of instructors is provided for each location: 2 instructors

Content of the educational program:

1st DAY

Introduction

  • Mapping of the participants’ expectations, assessment of their current skills and abilities in the area of the socio-legal protection of children

Human and legal aspects of the socio-legal protection of children

  • The historic and theoretical context of socio-legal protection
  • Legislative changes and approach to the socio-legal protection of children
  • International experiences and contexts of the socio-legal protection of children

Socio-legal protection of children in the publication administration system

  • The socio-legal protection of children in the state administration and self-administration system
  • Definition of helping and controlling roles of socio-legal protection of children employees
  • Methodical management of the performance of the socio-legal protection of children

Case management in the socio-legal protection of children

  • Theoretic definition of the case management concept
  • Methods and forms of case management work
  • Cooperation with other helping entities, multi-disciplinary cooperation
  • Case conference

Systematic work with endangered families/children

  • Detection of endangered families/children
  • Initiation phase of social intervention
  • Assessment of the degree a child is endangered
  • Creation of an individual plan for the protection of children
  • Evaluating interventions

2nd DAY

Clients and their position in the system of the socio-legal protection of children

SERIES OF SUPERVISIONS

General information:

  • 5 hours of supervision monthly for each center (3 hours for case supervision in a group, 2 hours for individual or team supervision depending on own choice)
  • total length of the supervisions: 1 year (resp. 10 months, i.e., 10x 5 hours, except July and August)
  • optimum number of persons for group supervision: 8 – 10 persons
    - multiple working groups are planned for centers with more than 10 employees
  • - centers with a smaller number of employees will be merged with another center of their choice for the purposes of supervisions
  • start of supervisions: February 2012
