Monitoring the system of primary prevention for a child at risk from the social environment
Foreign research was carried out at Public Benefit Corporation Sirius, o.p.s. (OPS Sirius) in 2010 as part of the priority orientation of the Sirius Foundation on systematic and preventative solutions to the issue of children at risk.
Aim: To create a map of preventative systems in operation in selected countries of Europe.
Regions: Great Britain, France, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden.
Focus:
- Prevention of neglecting care for children.
- Finding children at risk in the field.
- Intervention at the family.
The outcome of research:
- 108 projects found devoted to primary prevention;
- 19 key projects selected and divided into the following areas:
- mothers, pregnant women and the healthy – prevention in the sphere of care for young families and mothers and the well-being of children up to 6 years of age;
- disadvantaged families – projects for various groups of risk families and preventing the development of their risk behaviour;
- the duty to report - projects restricting the barriers of reporting persons suspected of threatening a child;
- state systems – comprehensive, systematic projects.
The output will be used for the work of an expert group that will put together a comprehensive solution for the issue of primary prevention in the Czech Republic. This project will be carried out at OPS Sirius under the leadership of MUDr. Elena Turnovská.
